What Your Editorial Review Contains
You’ll receive a comprehensive review of your manuscript, including:
- Plot and Structure – Does the story hold together and build momentum?
- Character Development and Arcs – Are your characters believable, growing, and engaging?
- Worldbuilding and Magic/Tech Systems – Is your world immersive and consistent?
- Theme and Message – Do your ideas come through without overwhelming the story?
- Pacing – Does the book flow naturally, keeping readers hooked?
- Reader Experience – How will your target audience actually feel when they read it?
- And More – Tailored insights for your story’s unique challenges.
Other editors might call this a Manuscript Assessment or a Developmental Edit Report. Those can be helpful, but they usually stop at critique.
Our Editorial Review goes further.
- If you’re a new author: you won’t be left wondering what to do next. Instead of a pile of broad feedback, you’ll get a clear, step-by-step roadmap that shows where to start and how to move forward.
- If you’ve been through this before: you’ll get more than general notes. We give you a detailed revision plan that connects big-picture critique with the work that comes before stylistic (line) editing — so you’re fully prepared for the next stage.
- For every writer: it combines the clarity of a Manuscript Assessment, the scope of a Developmental Report, and the practical structure of a revision plan.
It’s feedback you can actually use — professional, thorough, and actionable.

Our Big Picture Commitment
Cora Press is built on an author-first philosophy. Our goal is to make professional editing transparent, practical, and genuinely useful. Every stage builds on the one before it, and the Editorial Review is the foundation. We start by analyzing story structure, character arcs, and theme to ensure the creative framework is sound before moving into stylistic or technical refinement.
Flat, Transparent Pricing
Cora Press uses flat-rate pricing so authors always know the full cost upfront. No per-word math, no hidden fees, and no surprise invoices. Each project is priced for the entire manuscript, allowing you to focus on the work rather than the numbers.
Our structure reflects our author-first philosophy. We offer fair, predictable rates that make professional editing accessible without compromising quality. You get the same depth of analysis and publishing-level rigor found in traditional editorial houses, delivered with transparency and respect for independent authors.

We’re offering limited-time pricing as part of a special outreach campaign to help indie authors discover our services. Our editorial team is all US-based and adheres to professional editorial standards (PES). We provide the same quality you’d expect from editors charging 2–3× more. We’re simply making it easier to say yes—for now.
Our professional review includes:

- Character Development – Are your characters well-developed, believable, and evolving meaningfully?
- Plot and Structure – Does the story have momentum, clear stakes, and effective pacing?
- Worldbuilding – Is your world immersive, consistent, and integrated into the story?
- Genre Fit & Audience Appeal – Does your book meet genre expectations and deliver on reader promises?
- Theme & Emotional Resonance – Are the emotional and thematic threads well-developed and impactful?
- Revision Roadmap – A phase-based guide to revision, from Critical Issues to Minor Enhancements
- Tailored Suggestions – Concrete, actionable recommendations based on your manuscript’s genre, tone, and goals
- A Publisher’s Perspective – Insight into what might prevent a publishing company from acquiring your manuscript and why
At this time, we do not offer Editorial Reviews for books over 120K words. If you’re close, we recommend trimming for pacing and impact. Very long books often face higher editing costs and publishing hurdles unless you’re an established author with a built-in audience.
Yes—but be cautious. Ultra-low-cost editors often:
- Lack training in industry standards or genre expectations
- Provide shallow or vague feedback
- Stop at critique only without giving a revision roadmap with tailored suggestions.
- Miss critical structural issues
Cheap editing can do more harm than good.
We recommend submitting a completed and self-revised manuscript. Editorial Reviews are most helpful after you’ve taken the book as far as you can on your own. That way, you get maximum value from our feedback and can use it to guide your next revision pass or give you the green light to do stylistic/line editing.
Most reports are delivered within two weeks. You’ll receive a confirmation email with an estimated delivery window once we’ve received your manuscript.
You'll also be able to track the editorial process in your Author Portal.
